Effect of wp_link_pages on SEo

Hello guys,

I own a tutorial website with 15-16 screenshots per tutorial/post. Due to 15-16 images (each images are 700 px wide), my site loads pretty much slow which increases my bounce rate and decreases my revenue.

However, I came with an idea. I am thinking about splitting all posts into several posts using wp_link_pages tag. But I wonder, does this affect the SEO? Will I receive low organic traffic after splitting up the posts?
