After installing, activating and setting up the Business Directory plugin with exactly the same settings as on 2 other websites, my Elementor editor panel is ghosted and the spinning circle rotates endlessly…the editor will not load. If I deactivate BD, the problem goes away. On the other 2 websites, I’m using the same theme and plugins, but I do not have this problem. The only difference is that the site with the problem uses the Pro version of Elementor. The Elementor support page for this issue says to deactivate plugins one by one until the one causing the problem is identified. I’m afraid BD is the one. I really need to use BD on this site. Any advice?

    Hi @reneyoung

I’m sorry to hear that you ran into issues with this!

That shouldn’t be an issue. Can you try reinstalling Business Directory Plugin to see if maybe your version is corrupt in some way?

If that doesn’t work, we may need to do a full conflict test. Theme and plugin conflicts are very common in WordPress, and a conflict test is used to help determine the cause of the issue. Here is an article about how to test for theme and plugin conflicts with Business Directory, which may help pinpoint the issue: https://businessdirectoryplugin.com/knowledge-base/how-to-check-for-plugin-and-theme-conflicts-with-bd/

Before doing a conflict test, it is a best practice to take a backup of your site before beginning or to do the test on a staging site, in case any settings are changed during the process.

Please try that and let me know what you find.

It turns out the issue only exists when both Business Directory and Elementor Pro are activated at the same time. I guess I need to contact Elementor support.

    Hi @reneyoung

That may be the way to go since I can’t reproduce the problem on my sites. Did you change the theme you were using as well?

Please let me know what you find out.

    Hi Bobbie

No, I did not change the theme. I have BD and Elementor running together without any problems on a couple of other sites. Those sites, and this one, all use the Astra theme. So, like I said, the only difference is that this one uses Elementor Pro instead of the free version. But you just made me think of something. The Astra Agency Bundle comes with the Ultimate Elementor Add-on plugin. I just tried deactivating it, and what do you know? The problem goes away. So I suspect the Pro version of Elementor and that add-on don’t get along. Why BD was the casualty, I don’t know. But it looks like this did the trick.

I’m glad you found the issue! We typically keep everything up to date with WordPress requirements, so I’m not sure the cause of this problem either. We’ll keep an eye out for more cases in the future, though.

    Best,

    ~Bobbie
