    Hello, mr Decker.
I have watched your amazing video on Elementor and Polylang integration. And I thought, who better to ask than you.

I have run into a problem, and I am not sure if it’s a bug or just something I have done wrong or, more likely, something I haven’t done right. My setup is dual-language site with Swedish and English. I have media files translated with both versions showing up in the Media finder and many pages where everything works fine with Polylang. Then I started to use Elementor some time ago, and when in Elementor editing mode for a page, I can’t add an english image to a english page (only the Swedish images are shown in the finder). If I create a new page, don’t startup Elementor, set it to English and I can add english images with the usual Insert Media.

    Thoughts? Hints?

    All the best
    A

    Hello @argentum

I am sorry you are experiencing this and I apologise for the late response.

This problem does not relate to this plugin. This plugin allows the correctly translated Elementor templates to show with the correct Language on the front end. I would recommend you join our Facebook group where I would better be able to support you with your current problem.

However, I can give you an example of my workflow to see if this makes life any easier.

I use a plugin called Media Library Assistant which is compatible with PolyLang. I create my translated images using that before adding anything into Elementor. This works for me.

    Hello @p4fbradjohnson
Thank you for your answer. I use the Media Library Assistant too and I have created the translated images before trying to do anything in Elementor.

I got this answer from Elementor Support. Sounds like they know there is a problem but they blame it on the Polylang plugin and try to fool me into thinking that all users of Elementor use WPML and never Polylang.
“I am sorry but this has to be reported to polylang since they don’t keep compatibility with us properly and we can’t solve issues with a plugin from our end always. Our users use WPML and don’t face such issues and they always are up to date with issues with us and try to resolve it with us.
Many users use patches to work with polylang and Elementor. So, I would advise you to join our Facebook community and check with our users there as well on this if polylang support does not help you with this.

Nonsense. I tried WPML and it was an absolute headache to work with as an overall. I gave up and switched to PolyLang and have no issues. But thank you very much for your feedback.

Just for your info, whenever i create a translated page in PolyLang, I hit publish 1st, then edit it. Maybe its not best practice, but it works. ??

Infuriating, nothing I try can make it work. If there was a toggle for language in the Image Finder … And on top of that being told by the official Elementor Pro support that all Elementor users go for WPML.

And it clearly is Elementor doing something wrong. If I edit the page in regular mode, like setting a Featured image, the English images show up in the Finder. But not if I edit the page with Elementor.

    ARRRGH!

I do have a suggestion though. Can you create a local site and test with the bare minimum of plugins?

    (@argentum)

I managed to get the attention of someone in charge at the Elementor Github and was asked to contact the support again.

Do you mean make a copy of my current site, and disable to the bare minimum? I understand what you’re getting at, if this is something particular with my site, or a general bug with Elementor and Polylang. Maybe I will get around to it. But as it is now, I will refrain from using Elementor with Polylang from now on, unless a solution comes from the authors from either plugin. The site us up and running and is important for a certain small company.

No, you cannot have downtime. Thats no good. Yes perhaps making a copy and running it locally to test. This way we can know for sure if there is a dodgy plugin or something amiss.

Thanks for communication. Glad you got a hold of Elementor.

I write here to document how we solved this if someone besides me runs into the same problem. I got help fr?n the Elementor support and I created a new user with admin rights for the support person. The new user had no problems adding images translated with Polylang to an English page. This led me to try a different browser and in a Private / Incognito window. That solved my problem: some sort of caching, exactly what I don’t know.

Something so simple… I have been having browser cache problems myself. Thank you VERY much for your feedback. Its nice to deal with people who respond.

Of course I’ll respond if I have something of value to share. That’s what friends are for, eh? ??

I had another strange error 500 problem when trying to save in Elementor. It went on for weeks and I almost changed ISP. Until as a last thing before givning up, the ISP support (hesitantly) moved my database to server with a newer version of MySQL. The version I was on didn’t encrypt passwords with enough characters, and I can’t understand why that should affect Elementor’s capacity to save. But it did. I don’t really like how fragile Elementor feels. Or perhaps I just had bad luck. Still, people have strange kinds of problem, judging from questions on the forums and Elementor user group on Facebook. Elementor is by far the most advanced page builder, but also the most fragile.

Oh gosh, Yes, elementor can be quite fickle. But out of the ones I have seen, they are the best. Are you on Facebook? send me a mail with your profile, then we can chat there: madbradjohnson(at)gmail(dot)com
