• Forgive me as this is my first post. I have a small site using WP.
I received an email indicating that ElementsKit Lite plugin has broken it.
Which it is indeed down. Displaying a critical error message.

I have tried to turn the plugin off through my cPanel and it keeps turning itself back on.

And It won’t let me delete it.

I am completely at a loss. I have tried to use recovery mode to access my sites dashboard and while it logs me into the dashboard it does not allow me to actually select anything or go anywhere, just takes me back to the page with the critical error.

How can I fix this? And why is this breaking my site?

I don’t want to do the latest update or run a backup while it is down with this critical error.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Im not sure but I think I may have fixed it…

The reason for the error should be visible in the error log. You can find it in your hosting area. If necessary, the support of your hosting can help you.

Alternatively, you could also enable debugging in WordPress. How to do this is described here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/debugging-in-wordpress/ – also here the support of your hosting can help you if necessary to edit the file accordingly.

In both cases you should be able to see what the cause is in the logfile.

To remove a plugin that is causing the error without wp-admin working, log in to the hosting via FTP and delete its directory.

Thank you for these. I will have a look.

Oddly in the email from wordpress notifying me of the critical error it said the plugin ElementsKit Lite?was responsible. But after some trial and error, I realized it was Php. As soon as I updated my Php it all resolved.

Historically all of this used to auto update, I will have to look into why it didn’t this time. Even the latest WP update didn’t auto update.

I will admit I kind of panicked when all I saw was a critical error message on my site and couldn’t even get to the login page. And only discovered the email from WP in my spam because I was looking for something else.

Anyway thank you for the information, I will look at the link you provided.
