When test with PayPal Sandbox and real purchase, this plugin will give the above error to prevent us from doing any test. The plugin used is version 2.9.26. Your article about this error on your website does not apply to the situation at all, because there is no purchase user information listed in the User section.
Is there any we can get around this error and perform some tests?

A further question, if a website sells multiple digital products, for example music. A user may want to come back and buy more products after purchase some of the product from this website before. Why such situation will not be allowed?

    Hello @dwplano

It’s possible that you are attempting a guest purchase where a customer can make a purchase without having to login to an account.
Check in the Downloads > Customers page to see if there is a purchase with the email you are trying to use already.
If it is then that is the reason of the message. You can require users to be logged in to make purchases from the Downloads > Settings > Misc > Checkout page and also on that page you can display a login/registration form on the checkout page so that the user can create an account so that the next time they want to purchase all they have to do is login and they will also have the Purchase History available based on that email.

My personal opinion is that the plugin design should accommodate variety of customer behavior, should allow customers to come back to buy more things without explicitly register with the store. Asking customers to register before making any purchase may discourage them to buy things from the store. I purchased many things online from homedepot.com, with store pickup, and using PayPal to pay for the purchase. I never need to login each time.

    Hey @dwplano

You can purchase with EDD without logging in or creating an account!
The setting to require a user to be logged in is under Downloads > Settings > Misc > Checkout -> Require Login

When that is enabled a user must be logged in to make a purchase. However for subscription purchases, if using Recurring Payments extension for example, a user must always login to purchase as EDD creates a user account and it needs to tie the purchase to an account on the website to keep track of his subscription payments and status.

    I hope that information helps!

    Regards
