Email Address Not Encoded in View Source?

my site upgraded to WordPress 4.9.6. and went down after i updated this plug in today. i’ve lost access to my wordpress site, how do i deactivate the plug in, anyone knows?

@davidshq: You email address in your body is encoded, what’s not encoded is your “og:description”. Not sure if that’s a plugin or of you’re manually adding that tag.

I’m on WP v4.9.6 and using the latest Chrome Browser on iMac.

When I view the page source, email addresses are visible as in this attached image

@neilb4theking: The email addresses in your header aren’t encoded automatically, because your theme doesn’t filter them. You’ll have to do that manually, check out the FAQ for more information on that.

Yeah, in that case, I’d suggest hiring a WordPress developer to assist you.

@tillkruess – Would it make sense to add automatic encoding for opengraph values? This is a built-in feature of my theme, I’m not doing it manually. Maybe even more generic, where it just parses all text for email addresses? Or does that become too difficult because then you don’t have mailto:?

I’d be open to adding widely used filters to the plugin. What’s the name of the filter and theme? Is it open source?

I’ll have to dig in to see what the specific filter is, will get back to you.

Regarding theme, it is open source, its called Understrap – combines _s and bootstrap.
