Email Address not Recognised

  • I’m having 2 problems, but my biggest is that I can’t log in. I’ve tried to click on ‘forgot my password’, and have put my email address in, but wordpress says that’s an invalid email address. I’ve checked the spelling and tried my other email addresses, none are recognised. I’ve been working on my site for weeks, so there’s no way I don’t have a WP account. I’ve gone into PHP My Admin and checked the user accounts – correct email address is there, checked username and password. Changed Password. Tried to log in. Username not recognised. Changed Username in PHPMA, still not recognised.

    Any ideas???

    I’ve been using MAMP to log in via localhost until this week as I recently migrated my website from Wix hosting to Kualo. Kualo have been very helpful and wordpress is definitely linked to their hosting now as you get a basic WordPress layout when you open my domain address, but I cannot log in either through localhost or through my-domain.co.uk/wp-admin (though I do get the log in screen when I go to this address, and through localhost I get the site but have no ability to edit or log in to WP or anything).

    Assuming the migration has something to do with it but…???

    Also – but this is a separate issue that Kualo are working on – my domain *should* be showing the website that has been built so far, but it’s showing a basic WP page, as if I’ve set up WP but done no editing at all. I used FTP to migrate from localhost to live and they need to unzip that and sort it out properly but until I can log in and keep on updating it’s a moot point…

  • did you change the dns to the new site? it sounds like you are not working on your new migrated site,
    also on the 2nd problem, did you move over the dbase and did you set the db prefix on your new wpconfig to the old database?

    Kualo (my host) are working on my second problem so I think it’s best to see if they can figure it out?

    I’m trying to work on my new migrated site, that’s the problem – I get the WP login page but WP does not recognise my log in. I have tried to access the site through my localhost as I was doing before but there’s nowhere to log in or access the dashboard when I click through, even when trying to access the log in page (it just takes me to a 404 page for my site as if the log in page doesn’t exist)

    This is all a bit over my head and I’ve gotten this far by using tutorials and with the help of my new host but I don’t know *how* to change the DNS, so if it’s been changed it’s not been by me…???
