Email as username at registration

  • Does a plug-in or method exist that uses an email address as the username for a person’s account?

    I have searched for one that does this and not found it. It would seem a fairly minor mod to WP and something that others would do regularly.

    If no such item exists, could someone give me a hint as to how to begin making such a change?

    The login is there.
    Why not just try to create a new user with email as username and use it.
