email confirmation field

Hello,
I wanted to add a email confirmation field and used this code:
https://contactform7.com/2015/03/28/custom-validation/I added to my childs functions.php and am quite sure all is correct but it doesn’t work. Seeing the year of publishing 2015 I wonder if the code is still functional?
