Email confirmation not sending with Wysija

The conformation email never gets sent although the app says it did and I have tested the email settings in Wysija and they are indeed working so I am bummed cause I REALLY wanted to upgrade this plugin, spent so much time creating the popup. Any ideas before I give up? And the user is not added anywhere, not under users or subscribers, its like they put in the email, click send and nothing at all happens.
