Email confirmation to allow access to content

  • Not exactly sure the right terminology to use, but here’s a description of what I’m trying to achieve:

    A visitor reaches my page and wants to view some exclusive content (a static page w/files, videos, etc.). However, before they can view that content, I want them to submit a form with some contact info (name and email). The form sends them an email to confirm the address and provides them a return link – using that link commits the data to the DB and gives them access to the content page.

    I expect there’s probably a plugin that gets me pretty close, but I have been looking for a while and haven’t quite found anything with this behavior. Does anyone have any recommendations, either for a plugin or a basic conceptual approach to achieving this?
