• Yesterday I received 67 emails from your plugin with the site database backup. I tried to save theh backup Locally in the settings but I received an error. Can you please help? I had to disable the plugin because I received dozens of emails overnight and I needed to stop the spam.

  • I had this problem before. If you haven’t solved it yet, try going into the “Backup Settings” screen and click on the “Restore Default Location” button to reset where on your server the backups get saved to.

This happened to me when I switched hosts and copied my database over…so iThemes was still trying to use the file location on my previous host.

This seemed to have been causing the plugin to attempt a database dump every minute or so. Once I restored the file location to the default for my NEW host it was fine.

You’ll also see a similar button in the “Global Settings” screen for the log file location.

    Absolutely correct.

It is also worth noting that the Database Backup module will only display the Backup Location setting (which includes the “Restore Default Location” button) when the Backup Method setting is NOT set to “Email Only”.
And since “Email Only” is the default value you might wonder where is that Backup Location setting ?

Showing/hiding the Backup Location setting depending on the Backup Method value selected makes no sense.
When selecting the Backup Method “Email Only” it still uses the Backup Location setting value to temporarily create the backup file so it can then be emailed.

The current show/hide behaviour is only causing confusion …
