    Hi,

When the yahoo is used as the sender’s email (i.e. as a person which is submitting the form), I won’t receive the email.
First I checked is it a conflict with other plugins but even when all other plugins are deactivated the email doesn’t arrive. At the end I realized it’s only when the yahoo email is sender.

I contacted the hosting support to see is the firewall blocking and finally this is what they have said:

    ***************
Ah, I see. If you set the sender address to Yahoo but the mail doesn’t originate from Yahoo’s servers, it’s likely the message will be filtered as spam – Yahoo and, more recently AOL, set strict policies for what servers can originate their mail, due to spammers using their addresses as fake sender addresses.

That’s not normally enough to get a mail blocked, but it would be better to set the from address to something more legitimate eg [email protected] – you can always change the Reply-To header so that you can reply easily. I saw that recommended on a spamasassin mailing list a few days ago.
    ****************

So, I wonder do you see this as a good proposition and could it be set with one of the next updates:
In the background the email sender always to be [email protected]

  • Yes of course I will try to help, but am wondering what is meant by “in the background”, as stated here:

“In the background the email sender always to be [email protected]

Would that be like adding a BBC of the email to that address?

    Hi Jeff,

“In the background”, it’s just the phrase I’ve used, :), I suppose I wanted to say no matter what email is placed in the contact form it should come from @site.com, where a site is the actually a site from-where the message is sent (instead of submitted email, e.g. yahoo, which was causing the problem, i.e. the email wasn’t delivered).

Anyway, since then I have changed the host and everything is working even if yahoo is used on the contact form. So, it’s possibly the hosting configuration problem which they were trying to throw on Yahoo.

Hi Sloba, Thanks for clarifying, and glad to hear you got it resolved ??

    Hi Jeff,

For what it’s worth, I’m hitting up against this exact same problem. Can you suggest a workaround short of changing hosts?

    Cheers,
    -Bill

    Hi Bill,

Not that I know of, but research is ongoing. Let me know if you find any workaround.

Good to know, and will do. Cheers Jeff.
