    Hello there ??

Its nice to have such a helpful plugin. Though I’m facing a small problem when viewing the newsletter in web email client. I have a client who uses One.com webmail. He says that the newsletter he receives from us( that is me who uses mailpoet to send newsletter) doesn’t see images automatically until he clicks on “Load external images”. And he also says that a newsletter which he receives from other website displays images without clicking on “Load external images”.
What I have observed in the newsletter received from some other website is that
    1. The images use some what relative path like
    “?ui=2&ik=4486bed129&view=att&th=148a79454ea28f3f&attid=0.3&disp=emb&realattid=d3c123de4c0b5f4c_0.1.3&zw&atsh=1”

in gmail which one opened in browser gets path

    https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=4486bed129&view=att&th=148a79454ea28f3f&attid=0.3&disp=emb&realattid=d3c123de4c0b5f4c_0.1.3&zw&atsh=1”

    2. He has got nobody in his contact list so there’s no chance that we can say that the images loads because you have them in your contact.

    3. The path which the mailpoet generates is an absolute path.

    4. There is no setting in One.com to set option to “Load images automatically”

Please suggest me a solution so that the newsletter can be viewed in consistent in all browsers.

    Thanx in advance!!

  • Hello,

MailPoet doesn’t embed images inside the newsletters (attach the files), so all your newsletters images are loaded remotely from your own server. So that’s not an issue at all, that’s the way it’s supposed to work.

Gmail precache the images of your newsletter, that’s why the path to the image is a bit different then your normal image URL.

Maybe the newsletters your client see without clicking have the images embedded on the email itself. But as far as we know, all the emails with images, you’re suppose to click to load the external images, that’s a security thing.

Most of the time, those images have a tracking device. So if spammers are able to send you an email with images on it, and you open the email, they’ll be able to validate your email address because the image was loaded. That’s why now you have to click to load the external images.

    Does it make sense?!

    Thanx for your concern.

Yes, it does make sense and I completely agree with you.
My point is can we embedded image in the mail so that it does not fetch from my server.

As you said embedding image in mail can display without clicking on “Load external images”. So, what change can be done in the plugin so that it gets embedded into the mail. Can you please suggest the change that can be done.

There’s no way on the plugin to do that, even by changing it’s code. We prefer to load images remotely, as it’s common sense that Spam Filters are more inclined to block your emails if they contain images attached.
