• I’ve run a self-hosted WordPress blog for years and long ago I’d enabled JetPack’s email subscription features so readers could receive an email every time I published a new post. I had the blog subscription widget in the primary sidebar.

Today I noticed that some recent theme management changes I made must have removed the blog subscription widget in the sidebar, so I re-added it.

The terrifying moment comes when I see in the configuration for the widget, the “show total number of subscribers” option indicates zero (0) subscribers>

    WTF?

I check in the WordPress.com account that my Jetpack plugin uses and, sure enough, there’s no email subscribers.

Now, I know with all the WordPress.com vs www.ads-software.com changes and the monetized Jetpack changes, that I may have missed a memo about how this information is now handled. I’ve searched for all the email subscriber migration support pages and I can’t find a smoking gun as to why my email subscribers disappeared. Could this be due to a deactivation and reactivation of Jetpack? Frankly, I don’t see how it could by a migration issue since I didn’t change sites or use of Jetpack.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • I’d probably be asking this one over at Jetpack support.

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/jetpack/

It’s not that we don’t want to help you but when you work through a vendor’s or plugin authors support channels it presents them with good feedback on issues their users might be experiencing. That and ‘I really don’t know’ <GRIN>

we do often advise someone to disable all plugins temporarily and if that is causing users issues with Jetpack then they really need to know that.

The Health Check plugin has alleviated the need to do the manual plugins disable so much but sometimes that is still necessary… I’d hate to find out my advice is causing someone further issues.

Thanks JNashHawkins, I posted my question there. Sorry for the noise.

No, problem. It’s not noise either. I may learn something from this myself as I follow along.
