Hello, thanks for your work on this plugin. It’s probably the best GDPR plugin available currently.

In testing, though, I have discovered an issue. When as logged in subscriber user I click Privacy Tools and click the Download as Table button, the email is never sent to the user.

I’m using SendGrid to process transactional email on this test site and the email is never received by SendGrid either which tells me it is not being generated by WordPress.

Note: the email with a key for non-logged in users is sent and seen by SendGrid, so I know the plugin is working and sending email for other functions.

    Any ideas here? Thanks!

  • Hi,
    Same issue with Sendinblue…
By the way, the message displayed trying to download is something like “Within 30 days we will do it”. In the BO I selected download the data (and not send an e-mail).
    KR,
    Fred

    Hi there!

Thanks for the bug reports. I will look into this ASAP.

Do either of you have any caching plugins enabled?

No caching plugins here. I’m running this on a bare bones test site.

Hi @indrek_k… Any update on this? Would love to implement your plugin and feature it in an iThemes Training webinar.

    Hi there!

Sorry for the delay, been travelling and super busy with work!

    Couple more quick questions:
    1) What’s the “Export action” setting set to under Tools > Privacy?
    2) Is the identification email sent properly? i.e. when you go to Privacy Tools page while logged out and enter your email, do you receive anything?

    Thanks!

Thanks for your hard work on this. Your plugin is the best solution out currently to make user requests automated. The work coming in core 4.9.6 is nice but cumbersome for site owners.

    1) Export action is set to Automatically Download Data

    2) Yes, the email is received. When clicking the link provided, though, it loads the standard Privacy Tools page with “Please identify yourself via email” as though the user is unrecognized. The email used is the correct email for a user who has data in WP (a couple of comments and a Gravity Forms entry).

    Other Notes:
    – This is a bare bones test site running WP 4.9.6 RC1 and default theme
    – Running on localhost via MAMP on php 7.1
    – Other plugins active: Gravity Forms, your Gravity Forms addon, and SendGrid official plugin (for transactional email delivery)

    Hm, strange.

Can you try re-saving the settings on Tools > Privacy > General page and let me know?
With these settings, data should be downloaded automatically and no email sent to anyone at all.

By the way, we haven’t added compatibility with 4.9.6 yet. We’re going to be using the same interface provided there, but with automated processing capabilities as now.

Hold on, I think I have a solution for this…

Yes, for a logged in user it works perfectly. I am able to view the download as table or json options.

However, for a not logged in user who enters email address, the process to confirm and show the download options does not work.

Can you try disabling “Click tracking” in SendGrid, try again and let me know if this helps with the identification email?

    Thread Starter Nathan Ingram

    (@nathaningram)

Yes, that is the issue! Turning off click tracking in SendGrid settings on their website (which is enabled by default) allows me to see the download options now!

Awesome. I will add this to the docs as well as attempt to detect the sendgrid plugin and display a notice.

    Thanks!

Perfect! This is the plugin FYI:

Also, as a note to others… The Sendgrid option is under settings > tracking on their website. Click tracking must be turned off completely. I tested this with turning off tracking in plain text only and it doesn’t work. Must be completely disabled.

Closing the issue – it’s now mentioned in FAQ as well as installer wizard.
