Any way I can get an answer on the above? Thanks.

    Hi brains99,

I apologize if you’ve felt there’s been any delay — our free version support responses will always be within 1-3 business days as per our support policy.

In case it helps for the plugin update I’d mentioned, here’s WPBeginner’s tutorial on how to run updates.

For the Mod_Security error, this is usually triggered by security measures set up by your site’s hosting provider. Generally the host will need to either disable a rule within Mod_Security (they’ll be able to access its log to determine this) or disable it altogether. To sort this out, you’ll need to contact your site’s host and ask them to take a look.

I hope this helps you to get this sorted! When you have a chance to reach out to them for this, please let me know how it goes.

Look this just won’t work. You people have put me throw the ringer and it still will not work. Seriously this can’t be this hard. I have a new, updated wordpress theme, I’m using your new updated plugin and according to YOU, everything is setup correctly. Yet, i just can’t get it to work. I can’t receive any emails. So aggravating. Something so easy, is so hard.

What can I do to get this to work? Do I have to pay you? If I give you access to my CMS can you go in a check the setting? I have port 465 turned on. Everything should be fine.

Also my host has just told me:

I have whitelisted the mod_sec rule that is preventing you from using the wp-form just now.

STILL it won’t work. Are the settings actually wrong? Can you please check them for me?

BTW, when I do a “test” email through your SMTP plugin.. this is what it says:

There was a problem while sending a test email.

The related debugging output is shown below:

    Versions

    WordPress: 4.9.1
    PHP: 7.0.25
    WP Mail SMTP: 1.0.2
    PHPMailer

    ErrorInfo:
    Mailer: gmail
    Host: localhost
    Port: 25
    SMTPSecure: NULL
    SMTPAutoTLS: bool(true)
    SMTPAuth: bool(false)

Now my host is saying the I’m not using the SMTP from gmail. I spent 20 minutes yesterday following YOUR instructions for setting this up. At the very end it gave an error. I posted this above. you ignored it.

    Hi brains99,

I apologize for the trouble! The Gmail integration is complex and some users do encounter issues, depending on a variety of different factors (typically outside of your control). We’re working to improve error reporting to help track down the source of these issues, which in turn will help us recommend the appropriate way to resolve the issue.

In the mean time, if you’re encountering issues with the Gmail integration, we have other integrations that are available. Lastly, Gmail can still be used with the generic SMTP provider – we have instructions on how to set that up here.

Now you want me to try yet another thing.. a fourth thing? This is just absurd.

Is there anyone who can log into my CMS and check the settings? I don’t have to use gmail. Cleary your products are not developed properly to handle such a thing. I can use the domain email [email protected] as the “to” email.

How can you help me make this work?

    Mike

    Hi Mike,

I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, some sites see a lot more challenges with this than others — SMTP’s success relies on a lot of settings that are beyond your control (on your site’s server, the email provider used for the SMTP, etc), which is why trying a different option that accomplishes this in a slightly different way can help. However, Gmail is especially prone to challenges which is why it may be worth switching to one of these other options.

If you’d like to share a screenshot of any revised settings, I’d be happy to take a look. However, we’re able to provide limited support for our free version and the support you’re looking for requires a paid license. I hope you can understand.

I have purchased the basic version. I like the form a lot, which is why I’m willing to go through this and pay for it.

Are you able to set it up for me if I provide the CMS login? I’ll change the password when you’re done.

    Thank you.

    Hi Mike,

We’re not able to support our paid version through these forums (www.ads-software.com policy), however if you’d please submit a support ticket we’d be happy to assist from there!

While we won’t be able to set all of this up for you (since it requires information specific to your email account), we’ll do everything we can to help.

    Thanks!

OK, but you cannot continue to make me do things. This has gone on for days and days and you’ve had me spend literally hours, working on this and now, my money. You just can’t keep making me jump through loops forever. I need a solution at this point, please.

Thanks again for sticking with us on this, Mike ?? I’m sharing a summary of the solution below in case anyone comes across this thread with the same questions.

Update: This issue was resolved in our private email support.

Ultimately what worked was to use WP Mail SMTP’s “Other SMTP” option and to set the From Email in WPForms notification settings to the same email that was used to set up the SMTP. For more details, please see our tutorial on using this SMTP option.
