Hi, I replaced discuz comment system with this plugin in one of my client sites whete lot of discussions take place. Most visitors liked it, but after a recent conversation thread with more than 50 replies some of the commenters who were commenting logged a few complaints.

    1) Their inbox received a lot of comment notifications while the discussion was taking place.

    2) They had to refresh the page each time to see whether new comments are being posted, during the course of the discussion. In discus, new comments appear in real time with notification “show new comments”

    3) Comment posting is a little slow on Android Tablets with Mozilla browser. I tested on my tab as well, its comparatively slow.

is it possible to address these issues and feature requests in the immediate future releases?

Email frequency control and live comment display seems to be posing some trouble and lack of ease in highly active sites which has lots of discussions taking place. I know it is a young plugin, but it would be really good to have options for these in its admin panel

Is there any way this email frequency issue can be addressed in the upcoming releases

Edit : Its a little slow on Chrome browser in Android as well. Also, by live reload the discussion should not automatically reload, it should only show a notification to the user browsing a thread that some new comments are posted ( like disqus and livefyre), with an option to show those new comments.

The email frequency and live reload features should be optional, do that who wants them can enable it. Or else site owners in shared hosting will not be able to use it.

    Hi Rahul,
Thank you, I think the “Email frequency control” is very important and we’ve moved this task to the top, this will be released in next version.

    2) They had to refresh the page each time to see whether new comments are being posted, during the course of the discussion. In discus, new comments appear in real time with notification “show new comments”

I think this also can be implemented very soon.

    Checking this issue right now…

We are not copying those comment systems and are not going to do something “LIKE ….”. Please do not compare these plugins and ask for similar functions and features. We can develop and provide with better alternatives or just skip those to not be similar.

I think the displaying of new comments in live time can be implemented by two types of notifyer buttons on wpDiscuz as a unique solution. Here is an example:
    [ 34 new comments ] [ 2 replies on your comments ]
As you can see this will allow to load whether all new comments or juts those which are related to current user comments.

Yes that’s a way lot better. I think that’s not just unique but a better way to do it. These notifications will only be seen by logged in users right? And the count of new comments like 2 new comments or 3 new comments will be counted from the last time the member visited the post?

And when we click on a user, it doesn’t redirect to his or her profile. It is possible to implement that, but therr are many plugins in wordpress which people use for profiles, so it would be better to provide custom permalink option for user profiles in admin panel.

    Eg:
    Profile Link:
    website.com/%my-profile%/%username%

If you can provide such a method to enter profile link in wpdiscuz admin panel, websites using any kind of profile system can make use of it by altering the words enclosed by % symbol. So whether people are using buddy press or bbpress or others, wpdiscuz will be able to redirect to their profile on clicking the user avatar or name. This profile linking is no that important like live comment loading, but can be incorporated in some distant future updates, I guess.

Ahh, I was not comparing, sorry. I was trying to give an example.

wpDiscuz already uses BuddyPress and Users Ultra Profile page. If you have installed those, the username and avatar will become a link to their profile page. This is already done.

Thank you. I think this will work with Guests too, coz there is a cookie data for each user. wpDiscuz comment form can recognize current not-logged in user and show all comment fields with already filled fields, but this works till closing browser. So the individual comment notification will work fine with Gusets who just made some comment.
