Does this email from paypal affect using this WooCommerce PayPal Payments plug-in.

    Email from paypal:
“PayPal will start using Certificates issued from DigiCert Global Root G2 Chain. We are requesting you to add DigiCert Global Root G2 to truststores that are used to connect to with PayPal”

i have SSL by my web hosting, and do Not process card payments directly on my website. As everything is done by the “WooCommerce PayPal Payments plug-in” that’s linked to PayPals own SSL Certificates servers pages

Thanks for your post, I recieved a similar mail and did a little research on it. If you have not set any specific configuration that explicitly accepts certain certificates in your webshop or in the server configuration, new certificates are usually adopted automatically and do not require manual action on your part. Your hosting provider also makes sure you can accept and trust the new root certificate, which PayPal needs. Keep an eye on upcoming plugin and WordPress updates, so your system is up-to-date.

If you stumble across problems in your checkout while using PayPal, feel free to post it here!

    Hello @9ball

The plugin doesn’t require any specific setup and can even operate without an SSL certificate, although it’s not recommended. In any case, we are not aware of any recommendations in this area that might impact using the plugin.

Should you require any further assistance or have additional questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

    Best regards,

    Hi @inpsydekrystian

Reading the latest email and instructions from PayPal, I can see that the certificate has an impact on the IPN.

So, the question is, will the plugin be able to manage the IPN without DigiCert Certificate for the ecommerce url?

    Kind regards

    Hi @jscmal,

The PayPal Payments plugin uses webhooks instead of the older Instant Payment Notifications (IPN) system. Webhooks can handle real-time notifications from PayPal regarding transactions and other events related to your PayPal account. So in your the case of your question, we do not see any impact using the plugin.

Let us know if you have further questions.

    Best Regards,
    Jamie
