Email in General will not change

I have run WordPress for decades, always in newest update, with great success. I notice that when I want to update my email in General, especially in older websites, I am NOT sent the email to confirm the change. Of course I always check junk and trash folders. How can this be fixed? Is there a plugin to address this? THANK YOU for your help!
