    Hi there,

Is it possible to receive an email notification as a shop owner if an order goes from pending payment to cancelled?

    Thanks!

This is because these statuses indicate that a payment intent was made.

You’re wrong here. If I make it to the page where I can enter my credit card details and then, for whatever reason, abort the process, I made a payment intend which results in the status pending payment.

    Hey, @orschiro!

If I make it to the page where I can enter my credit card details and then, for whatever reason, abort the process, I made a payment intend which results in the status pending payment.

What we mean by payment intent is the process actually going through. So a payment intent would only be made if the customer clicked to complete the transaction, adding the credit card information, but not completing the order does not qualify as payment intent on this context.

I hope this was clarifying. Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help or if you have any questions.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hey, @orschiro!

In this other GitHub thread another user opened regarding this, there are two comments explaining that this email being sent was actually a bug, that’s why it was fixed.

Here’s what one of our devs commented:

Pending orders can be created by a spam bot on your website. All it takes is adding items to the cart, clicking on PayPal, then leaving without paying. That’s the reasoning behind removing this email.

You can check the thread here: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/15707

I hope this was clarifying. ??

    Hmm, interesting, that’s insightful, thanks!

I never encountered this issue with Spam bots which is why it did not occur to me, but the reasoning makes sense.
