• Hi, I don’t get any e-mail notification when someone leaves a comment. I’ve checked and double-checked the settings in the admin panel, but still no e-mail. This has been ever since I’ve upgraded to 1.5.
    What can be the problem?

  • Are you using the latest version 1.5.1.2 ?

Do you (or your users) receieve any mail from WordPress (like for new user registrations)?

Are you certain that the moderation emails are not being filtered by your email program as spam?

Aside from upgrading, have you made any other changes — like installed a new plugin?

I am using 1.5 (havent upgraded to 1.5.1.2 yet).
registration isnt allowed so I dont get those emails.
    They are not considered spam.
Only other change is new theme/looks, but no changes made to the adminfiles.

By the way: switching back to the default theme doesnt change a thing, email notification still isnt working. So it probably has got nothing to do with themes.

No, the problem almost certainly has nothing to do with themes. But when things “stop working”, someone almost always made some changes somewhere. Often, the perosn making the chnages didn’t realize that the change(s) they made would have an effect elsewhere.

Thus my question: have you installed any new plugins?

WordPress 1.5.1.2 fixes many (most?) problems with older versions of WordPress. If possible, I encourage you to upgrade, to see if that restores mail notifications for you.

No plugins, only last week for recent comments, but the notification stopped working long before that. As I am the only one changing things, I’m sure nothing has changed. As I said, it stopped working after upgrading to 1.5 from 1.2, some weeks ago.
I’d love to upgrade again, but is it necessary to upgrade all files (because that means I again have to start editing lots of stuff, like translating into dutch, the lines for comments, et cetera.).

When upgrading, it is strongly recommended that you upgrade all files except your theme. The files in your /wp-content/themes/<your theme> directory can be left unmodified. Indeed, the entire /wp-contents/ directory exists specifically for data that should persist across upgrades.

Unfortunately the WordPress Codex is currently offline; but I think there might already be a Dutch translation of WordPress… Check the Codex through today and tomorrow. It should be back up soon (we hope!).

Also, please verify the e-mail address in admin, Users, Your Profile.

Hi. Before my upgrade to 1.5.2 I have stopped receiving emails of entry comments. I just upgraded to 1.5.2 and problem still exists. All WP files were upgraded except for themes. New plugins were removed.

I am also hosting other WP blogs and they are encountering the same problem. We are using yahoo and gmail email accounts.

What could be the other reasons?

This may have something to do with your host, mcjgonzales. There was a thread about that here, though no solution was ever posted so I don’t know what to tell you. ??

I don’t know if this will help anyone, but I upgraded from 1.5.1.3 to 1.5.2 and email notification stopped working until I went to my WP Dashboard, logged out, and logged back in. Then it started working again.

email notificatoin not working for me as well…

Just curious, what server are you guys using? I’m having the same problem but feel I am getting close to working it out. Try logging in as ADMIN and posting a test comment. Are you notified then?

For more info, look at this thread.
