• I don’t know what happened but I am no longer receiving email notification of comments. It used to work fine and I haven’t touched anything in my configuration files and yes, the “email me when anyone posts a comment” option is thicked. What can be the cause of this?
I have my blog hosted on godaddy.com has anybody had similar problems with this host? If I must write to the support service, what should I ask? The email where notifications are sent is the one in the “profile” tab or in the “general options” tag? Well in my case it’s the same and the email address works well.

  • i dont use spam karma, but i have the same issue ??

I found this thread because my site stopped sending emails 2 days ago when I upgraded from 1.5.2 to 2.0.1, and just as I registered I got an email from a fresh comment. Stupid thing is I didn’t get one from the comment made right after that.

No spam plugins and I checked my mailserver, they never arrived at their final destination. So WordPress did simply stop sending (most of) them.

I’m having the same issue and I do have SK2.2r2 installed. Any progress on this?

And I thought I was the only one! O_o Any sort of e-mail notification has stopped. Have yet to upgrade to 2.0.1, but will do that right now to see if it solves anything.

I had this same problem as well before, but it was my host’s fault. They were doing things to their sever and upgraded some stuff, and told us all to get rid of free “email” scripts.. because of the spammers were attacking hardcore then..

But, I have removed them free email scripts, and I’m just using WP 2.0.1 and Spam Karma and such, and haven’t had any problems with it. :/ I’m getting all the notifications from replies to comments and even through my contact pages..

So this is all weird, if you have your email connection settings right in the Blog control panel under:

    Options => Writing =>

And have your email server, username and password right, it should be fine.. :/ Like I said, I did have a problem with it before, but it was my host’s fault. Then, after they did what they did to their server, it was fine.. So I dunno for sure.. :/

I am using GoDaddy as my hosting provider and I would ver strange if they decided to change their email policy the same day that I upgraded to 2.0.1. Also, I don’t see how the “writing-by-email” settings have any effect on comment notification emails.

kashou, not to be ignorant towards you, because of course you haven’t done anything wrong. =) Some hosts are and can be pricks, limiting ppls for certain features and or the ability to do certain things. =(

I had shitty ass hosts before, that only allowed so much stuff to be done on their servers and that’s it. It also depends on what’s allowed on their servers.. Some are quite picky…others are free going…it’s hard to tell sometimes.. The “writing by email” might be considered a “spam” issue or even a possible “security” risk to the host.. it’s hard to tell…

But, maybe just ask them, and or, shove them up a horse’s ass and find a new one lol!!

Kashou – I’m using GoDaddy without any problems. Make sure you have your account set up properly in the GoDaddy account manager. There are some email setting in the panel.

fooddude – Are you referring to the ‘Form Mail’ options? I wasn’t aware that WP used this type of server based script. The strange thing is that my emailing worked right up to when I upgraded to 2.0.1

I too have this problem. Will not send comments, contact form or user registration emails. This has never worked in WP 2.0 for me. Funny thing is, i have gallery2 installed and this uses the mail(), i think, to send email and it DOES send email. I have downloaded and activated the WP-mailer plugin and set it to use smtp, no emails of any sort. Set it back to use the mailer(), no emails of any sort. I run my own mail server and firewall ports are open and i can see all port 25 traffic, checked all mailserver logs, never see anything when using WP 2.0. Sendmail IS installed on this server, /usr/sbin/sendmail and phpinfo shows it there. PHP.ini file is working as gallery2 sends emails. Anyone offer any help?

An update on my part; upgraded on 2.0.1, still no e-mail notifications, asked my host — I’m the only hostee with this problem.

    Hmph.

i’m having a very similar problem, comment notifications stopped for no apparent reason, however contact form emails, database updates, and every other frickin’ thing it can email me comes through. just not comments.

i tried every theme i have installed, i disabled all of my plugins, contacted my host, no dice.

i’m hosted on godaddy as well, running wp 2.0.1…. ??

for me it seems like comments numbering jumped from 2xxx to 7xxx and now when someone posts who is not logged in, the moderation email to me has all fields blank. When I uncheck the “commentor must have a comment” checkbox, it works fine.

i wonder how many comments i have lost because of this ??

For no reason that I can determine, my emails are working again. I will have to assume that this is all because of something that GoDaddy did….

Actually, an update of Spam Karma 2 by the developer fixed the problem for me. (Knock on wood.)
