email notifications stopped working

    Two days ago I upgraded to wp version 3.1.2, and changed to a new free theme, Platform by PageLines. Since then I have stopped receiving email notifications when there is a comment for moderation and when an already approved author posts a comment. I did not change any discussion settings, and I don’t see anything in the PageLines settings that might have caused this to happen. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    I realized that a plug-in called WordPress Admin Bar was still activated, but it is no longer needed since there is an admin bar in the current version of WordPress. Once I deactivated and deleted it, and deleted one other plug-in that wasn’t active, I started receiving email notifications again.
