Email notifications to followers are going to their spam mailboxes

  • HI this is the link to my blog:

    I have just changed from wordpress.com to www.ads-software.com last night and wordpress.com has also transferred all my subscribers to .org.

    Today I had 2 new posts up this morning but I realised the email notifications to the followers all went to their spam mailboxes. I subscribe to my own blog to check on this and it went to my spam mailbox too.

    And a new subscriber said after she typed in her email address in the ‘subscribe to me’ box, the email notification goes to her spam mailbox too.

    Can you please advise me on the steps to take or a plugin that can help solve this?

  • You are probably relaying mail through your web server. This is not always the best option.

    I would recommend that you add a plugin like Easy WordPress SMTP – https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/easy-wp-smtp/ which will allow you to authenticate your mail through a remote mail server, thus reducing the risk your messages end up in spam.

    so I install this plugin now?

    Yes, install the plugin.

    Then go to the settings panel, found in the admin navigation under Settings –> Easy WP SMTP

    This panel will allow you to add in the settings for your mail server. Fill out the settings and save.

    There is a link at the top of the settings panel to the plugin authors website where you can find further documentation.

    hi,
    the box that says ‘from email address’ is my own email?

    what is smtp host?

    I have no idea how to fill in the rest… I read the documentation but will probably trial and error…

    will this plugin solve the issue?

    and I have actually changed from wordpress com to org yesterday and today I am using org to post new content today.

    Is there a way to transfer the likes from the previous .com posts to .org? all the likes are empty..

    HI, I have installed that and when i post my new post a few minutes, i am the only one who received the notification.

    My husband who is a subscriber as well, did not get anything in his inbox..

    Can you advise me?
