Email share button not doing anything

    Hello,

    The social share buttons are working on our site, but the email button fails to do anything. We have tested it in multiple browsers. No errors are displayed in the browser console on page load or when the button is clicked. Any ideas?

    Hi @mikehermary, yeah I wasn’t able to find errors either — your link looks correct, but it’s failing. Are you finding anything on the site’s error logs?

    Also, is there any chance another plugin or theme could be conflicting? If this just started, you might be able to take a look at what updated just before this started.

    Hello,

    The only plugin that was added was WP SMTP by WPForms. Are there any issues between JetPack and this plugin?

    Not specifically, but do you mean that you needed to add the SMTP plugin as your server was originally not sending emails on its own?

    Hello,

    It was installed to improve the sending of emails. Some major email addresses were not receiving notification emails from WPForms Pro when forms were submitted.

    Is there any difference if you deactivate that plugin?

    I deactivated the plugin, but still no luck. Other plugins were updated, but nothing new was added besides WP SMTP. Any ideas?

    Ok, let’s rule-out the rest of the third-party possibilities.

    Is there any improvement if you deactivate all other plugins except Jetpack?

    I tested it with all plugins but Jetpack disabled on beta.todayville.com. Still no luck.

    Ok, something does seem to be interfering with the JavaScript actions, so if it’s not the plugins, would you please see if it works with the Twenty Nineteen theme active?

    Hello,

    I installed 2019 on our beta site and the problem was resolved. There seems to be a conflict between Zox News and the Jetpack email share button.

    Thanks @mikehermary . If the problem just started and you were previously able to use Zox News without trouble, you might check to see whether it had changes in recent updates that could have caused the conflict. If so, please let their support know.

    I have disabled all JavaScript for the Zox News theme, but the email button is still having issues. Do you believe there would be a PHP conflict between the theme and Jetpack?

    That is most likely.

    I see that the theme was last updated in June, perhaps a recent change in there: https://themeforest.net/item/zox-news-professional-wordpress-news-magazine-theme/20381541
