“email signup failed” message appearing when opting in using magic action box

When I put my name and email into the magic action box on my site, it just says “email signup failed” or it just hangs, like it’s thinking, but nothing ever happens. I recently updated to version 2.17.1

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
