    Hi.

    Resurecting this past thread https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/failure-not-obvious-from-email-notification/

I was relying on the email subject line to assess the success or failure of a backup. Bad idea! Correct me if I am wrong but email subject is always in this form:

    Backed up?: SiteName (UpdraftPlus 1.24.11) 2024-12-02 09:41

The first 3 lines of the mail look like:

    Backup of: https://….

    UpdraftPlus WordPress backup is complete.

Backup contains: Files and database (Full backup)

The 4th line gives the actual backup status which could be one of the following:

    • The backup attempt has finished, apparently unsuccessfully
    • Latest status: The backup succeeded and is now complete
    • Latest status: The backup succeeded (with warnings) and is now complete

I was relying on the subject line which in effect is misleading. In my case the backup istelf was OK but the upload to a FTP server was failing (wrong folder).

It’d be greatly appreciated if the email subject gives the actual end status of a backup job.

    Can you do that please?

    Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the email notifications with us.

There’s currently work under way to update and improve the messages and their format.
For example, another user suggested we identify which type of backup ran, manual etc.

I will now pass your feedback on to the development team working on the notifications.
I’m sure they will appreciate your input as the user perspective is always valuable to us.

Thank you again. I anticipate you’ll see these changes in a future release.

    Best regards,

    Nick
