Email Users sending whole post with pictures in Email

Have you looked at the default post notification body on the Email Users settings page (Dashboard->Settings->Email Users)? There is a setting for the Default Notification Body where you can define the content which will be used for the body of the email sent out.

By default, the body uses the post excerpt as the post notification content (along with some other stuff) but you can change it. In your case, if you actually define a proper excerpt for your post as the “intro text” it will be used and that is all the user will get. There are a number of keyword replacements you can utilize in the notification body, they are all defined further down the Settings Page.

Yes I have checked Dashboard->Settings->Email Users

There everything looks fine and mostly is the default settings. Ideally it should send only excerpt in the email but it sends the whole post.

Do you have excerpts defined for your posts? If not you’ll get the whole post because that is what the_excerpt() returns.

I think you nailed it. I have two kind of posts in my blog. Normal wordpress posts and a custom post called Game Review that is created by the theme maker.

Whenever I write a game review I add excerpt and the email goes with only excerpt.

But whenever I write a normal wordpress post it has no field for excerpt and for that post the whol;e post goes in email.

How do I define excerpt for my normal posts?

You have to turn on the Post Excerpt box for the Post Editing screen. There is a dropdown along the toolbar at the top which will have a bunchof checkboxes to turn things on and off, the Post Excerpt is one of them.
