A bit frustrating that an incorrectly written email (invalid) throws the error below for the customer, but still sends the form. I have the second problem that this sentence seems to be missing from the translation file and so the customer doesn’t know there is a problem. And we can’t respond to them.

Why Ninja forms flags an email as invalid, but still submits the form seems to be a bit strange. Anyone got a fix for this? Ie, just an error message saying to fill in a valid email, and NOT send the form until it is.

Your email action “Email Confirmation” has an invalid value for the “to” setting. Please check this setting and try again.

I’m not able to replicate this issue, I just tested locally and the email error did stop the form from submitting. Can you test again and make sure you’re on the most recent version.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your response.
I am on the most recent version. I tested the email that we received, and was able to send it. It was an email that included a Japanese character 6 in the email. It looks similar to a one byte 6, but I think is 2 bytes. Not sure if it will be displayed here, but I will write both to show you. 6 6 .

I did reach out to support. I was eventually sent a canned response that showed that my message was not read and understood. I did ask them to re-check my request, but I have still not received a response. Because of the terrible support, this is the only place I can go for help.

BTW, I just re-tested. I’m not sure why, but this time there wasn’t even an invalid email notification. It sent fine. But it shouldn’t.

If you want to test, try filling out a form using test6@anything.com
It will send, but you will not be able to reply because of the Japanese character (and this email doesn’t exist!)

I am just using the 6 because this is the invalid character I received. But maybe it would be the same for any non ascii character in any language.

    Nick
