Email with + breaks form

This plugin conflicts with email form inputs.
IF setting = “Yes, convert plain emails to mailto links”
AND if the user has a + (plus) in their email (example: [email protected])

I have a front end, edit user, form where the user has a + in the email address.
The form breaks when this plugin tries to convert the email inside the input to a mailto link.

I have reported this on Toolset as well, because I don’t know if this is specific for “CRED” forms or if it is for all forms in general.
