• Hi, I have designed MANY website over the last 6 months and made sure that the Wordfence summary was NOT ticked (ie turned off) in the options page as I don’t want to receive summaries on all the websites I designed.

As of yesterday though I have been receiving summary emails from the websites I have designed. The period is for the last two weeks.

I don’t understand why these summaries are being sent now though when they haven’t been sent in the past. Also I don’t have a tick in the box ‘Enable Email Summary’ so they shouldn’t be sent anyway.

Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

  • Hi stryker56,

Have you verified that the ‘Enable Email Summary’ option is still disabled? Have you checked more than one of the sites to verify?

If an update or something else reset that setting, we need as much information as you can provide to troubleshoot.

You might try enabling “Disable config caching” located at the bottom of the “Wordfence Diagnostics” page. Not sure if it will fix your problem, but it is worth a shot.

Thanks for the info and let me know how it goes.

    Hi wflandon,

Thanks for you reply. I haven’t been receiving these emails anymore. The mystery was that they came from multiple websites over a 3-4 day period. Yes the ‘Enable Email Summary” option was disabled on all my websites I manage.

Anyway. The emails are not coming through so maybe it’s all fixed for some reason.

    Thanks again.

Wordfence in my experience has a habit of re-enabling toggles, for example, for a while it would re-enable the checkbox for requiring strong passwords. That caused me no end of confusing problems until I realized what was happening. Seems to be fixed now, but you never know.

Perhaps that’s when going on with the ‘Enable Email Summary.’

I’d keep my eye on it in the settings and see if it mysteriously becomes re-enabled. Add another 1/2 hour to your weekly workload to check this on all your sites.

    MTN
