Subscribe2 suddenly stopped sending emails after working fine for months.

When I send a test email from the Send Email tab, it reports the email was sent, but it never arrives in my inbox.

I have installed, configured, and successfully tested Cimy Swift SMTP (as it’s the most recent updated SMTP plugin compatible with WP v3.8.1). And con confirm that it’s sending out emails for other plugins and through wordpress just fine.

I have installed and tested Email Log, and it works fine, I can see emails logged from Subscribe2 via the Send Mail tab, but no emails from Subscribe2 arrive.

I have contacted my host (Hostgator VPS) and they helped me look at the Exim log files via ssh and it’s not showing anything from Subscribe2.

Any help would be appreciated. I would even pay for support at this point. I’ve tried everything I can think of, including everything on the FAQ, and troubleshooting pages on your website.

    Additional info:
I have it set up for per-post.

And the Restrict the number of recipients per email to: 1

Any time I change this number to 0, or 30. Then I get the email not sent error. When it’s on 1 it says Email Sent!

When it’s sent, it gets logged with https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/email-log/

  • @dandpdev,

Subscribe2 is generating te emails if they are being logged so the failure is happening later. The exam logs might not be any help if the emails are going via an SMTP server. Can you access SMTP logs too?

Thank you for your quick response

Unfortunately no. All I have access to are the exim logs.

So basically you’re saying if S2 is generating the emails, then it’s a problem with my host?

I have contacted them again to see if they can look at the SMTP logs which I do not have access to.

Any insight as to why the restrict receipients causes an error when changed from 1 to any other number?

If you see the number of recipients per email to anything other than 1 then the email is constructed to use the BCC header, the email is sent back to the sending address with subscriber recipient email addresses added to the BCC header. If this always fails for you then there is likely to be a policy in place on the server that blocks such emails as an anti-spam measure.
