Emails broken?

  • Okay, so here’s what’s going on.

    – Website sends notifications of comments -> never received
    – Website with SMTP plugin sends notifications of comments -> received

    – Website sends contact form message -> never received
    – Website with SMTP plugin sends contact form message -> somewhat received*

    * ALL messages above are sent to an [email protected] address which is then forwarded to my Gmail. In this particular case (* above), the emails are received by [email protected] but are not forwarded to my Gmail. HOWEVER if I don’t use the contact form and send something to [email protected], it is forwarded to Gmail. So the forwarding IS working, just not when it comes from my website with SMTP.

    It’s a really bizarre case and tough to explain, but what’s going on? Nothing in “spam”, “all mail”, searches in my Gmail for missing emails. Also why do I suddenly need SMTP (nothing changes, no plugins/WP updates occurred before/after this stopped working).
