Emails ending up in spam folder
-
Hello,
This is not a support question. I just want to share how I solved my problem with emails sent via this plugin ending up in people’s spam folder. For my own future reference and to give some info to people in a similar situation. Maybe it helps.
So the problem was that emails ended up in the spam folder, in Gmail I got the message that the email was sent via the webhost’s server and DMARC and DKIM were not valid.
Basically, I followed Google’s tips’ here.
I checked the domain’s reverse DNS records, changed the email address the emails were sent from to match the group of emails (newsletter) and checked the spf, dkim and dmarc records.
It turned out there were no dmarc and dkim records so I added them to the DNS Zone.
Problem was still there. both dmarc and dkim were valid but in the email header there was still the message: dkim=temperror (no key for signature).
The next thing I did was going to the plugin’s Settings page and clicked the Email Sending button. At the bottom of the page, there is a list of mailers to send emails. Mine was set to PHP Mail. After I changed it to WP Mail, emails didn’t go to the spam folder anymore. I didn’t get the message next to the sender’s email in Gmail anymore that showed sent via webhost’s server name.
