Emails suddenly not sending

  • We are using Contact Form 7, Really Simple Captcha and Contact Form DB and it has been working perfectly. Suddenly 4 days ago for no apparent reason emails stopped sending. On the front end it looks like the email sends – you get the confirmation and the page redirects to the thank you page. The details go into the Contact Form DB database but the email is never received and the thank you email to the client also doesn’t send. Any ideas on what might be going on greatly appreciated. All plugins and wordpress are running up-to-date versions and nothing changed on Friday that I can pinpoint as a cause.

  • Same problem for me.

    I’m having the same problem. Contact Form 7 used to work, but now it doesn’t. Like Barblee, I receive confirmation that the message is successfully sent, but the email is never received. I suspect that there are many other users that are having the same problem, but don’t realize it. (It’s not like a person is sent a notification that someone is not able to reach you!)

    My form is basically default ‘out of the box’ settings, so there’s really not much that can go wrong. My spam filters are turned completely off, and I’ve even tried using a different email address in the Send To field, but nothing makes it through regardless which of my email addresses I use. I use HostGator for my web hosting, and they claim there’s nothing wrong on their end. I’ve read through Contact Form 7’s ‘Best Practices’ and ‘FAQ’s. There’s a lot of content, but nothing that helps.

    How does a person troubleshoot this? My best guess is there’s a problem with something that I have no control over. How do I track down someone else’s problem?

    Same time span when my customer stop receiving emails from their website, which is why we discovered the CAPTCHA in the widget was not functioning properly. I have sent an email asking if the test message I sent through their new temporary page I have placed on a web page is allowing them to receive emailed message from the website again.

    WOW, sounds like the recent updates are really playing havoc with Contact From 7 ??

    You can try this, it fixed this issue for me:

    1. Login to Godaddy account
    2. Go to: Manage Hosting Account
    3. Scroll down to Email section
    4. Click on “MX Entry”
    5. Select which domain you want to edit.
    6. Click “Remote Mail Exchanger”
    7. Click Save.

    This is because the contact form has to be sent to an email address that is setup in CPANEL. I often experience issues with contact forms not sending properly to email addresses that are not hosted on Godaddy.

    As a side note… I’m not using any WP SMTP plugins. Though you may want to give that a try as well to see if it helps.

    Your problem – despite any similarity in symptoms – is likely to be completely different.

    Comments like “Same problem for me.” & “I’m having the same problem.” are generally unhelpful and likely to be inaccurate.
