• Hello, I am trying to embed a post on my site but it doesn’t work. As with embedding a Facebook or Twitter post, all I’m supposed to do it paste the URL of the site content to embed. But for some reason, it displays properly in the post editor but renders as a hyperlink on the front-end. This is the only feature with an issue, others like YouTube z Twitter and Facebook work perfectly. I have tried disabling plugins, nothing seems to work. Any ideas what’s going on? See link provided for example

What specifically is the URL you’re trying to embed?

I was of the understanding that the “embed” option only worked on popular URLs like facebook, twitter, youtube, etc… – not just any URL from the web.

@macmanx not sure it should matter what URL I am trying to embed. It’s the same issue with all WordPress posts URL. But here is the URL https://techpoint.africa/2019/12/18/vodacom-tanzania-worldremit/

I have no trouble embedding posts from other WordPress sites, but you’re right that I cannot embed that specific post.

    So, two questions:

    1. What version of WordPress is the embedded site running? Both sites need to be WordPress 4.4 or higher.

    2. Is the site you’re trying to embed running a plugin that blocks its REST API? No API = no embed.

Thanks for your prompt reply James. I failed to clarify that I am trying to embed my own site content in my own site. So both the article like and embed subject are from the same source. And it runs on WordPress 5.3.

I have also tried to embed links from other WordPress sites and I get the same result.

About 2, indeed there is a plugin that blocks REST API (apparently for security reasons) but disabling it doesn’t seem to do the trick.

    Could it be my theme?

I also have no trouble embedding posts from/on the same site, so it must definitely be something on your end.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.
