Embed Video – Not YouTube – Clean Retina Theme

I’m trying to embed a mp4 video file from my wordpress media library into the corporate, static, front page template. I’ve tried WordPress Media tab and the file is uploaded. I was able to find the URL for the file. I’m using the current version of Clean Retina 1.2.9.

When I do “Insert Media” on the page, all I get is code – the video doesn’t display at all.

I installed TinyMCE and tried to use the video embed with a link to the url. The video shows in the preview. I updated the page, but when I went to View Page, there’s a place holder for the video, but the video doesn’t play. I’ve tried loading as a HTML5 and Flash, both with the same result. Also, I’d like to mute the audio, which I can do in HTML5, but there’s no option for mute in Flash.

I’d like to upload the video directly, rather than using YouTube, so I don’t have to set another account for this site.
