I need to embed a Vimeo clip on one of my WP pages – I had a look at the support page at https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/vimeo/ but the recommended method doesn’t work – if I just add the code as advised it appears as code on the page. The only way I seem to be able to connect to the Vimeo clip is by a hyperlink which I’d rather avoid.

    Any advice gratefully received.

    Thanks

  • Hi Philip,

If you read the Troubleshooting and still doesn’t work, try to copy embed the video through the video embedding code.

To find the embedding code: click to play the video and move the cursor in the top-right side of the video screen. You’ll find there these 4 functions: Like, Later, Share, Embed.
Click on the Embed and copy the code.

Open your post/page in your blog and go to the HTML editor.
Paste the Embed code where you want your video to be displayed.

Thank you. Troubleshooting didn’t do it but editing the long code in the html window did.

    All the best

Do you know if there is a way of forcing HD on in this embed?

    Glad it helped!

Please mark the topic as [resolved] if that was all.
    Thanks!

You cannot override one’s HD/SD viewing preference if the cookie is already set but you can set the default behavior for people with the cookies in the video’s settings page (it’s under the “Embed” tab).
    Source.
