• I upgraded my blog from 1.2 to 1.5 using the ultra-easy upgrade that my hosting company set up…probably my first mistake.
My blog updated properly and so far, everything seems to work except in my posts where I had links, they aren’t links anymore. When I try to edit a post, it shows the “href” code properly. I’ve even tried to redo the links and save but they still show up as regular text, even when I “view source” for the page. I’ve also tried to change/add new text to old posts and that works (so it shouldn’t be a database read/write problem) but WordPress just won’t acknowledge the links at all.
New posts (like my latest https://paulmills.net/ post) do show up properly but my old posts (like https://paulmills.net/?m=200304 the month of April, 2003) the filenames are supposed to be hyperlinked.
I’m stuck. I’ve searched these forums and can’t find a person with the same problem…similar, but not the same.
    Thanks,

  • That’s odd….. I tried several links…. they all worked for me.

    Tg

The seconf link is an archive view – and in the archive.php template the_excerpt is used instead of the_content tag. In the excerpts by default the markup is removed. You can edit your archive.php template by replacing the_excerpt with the_content.

    Good catch, moshu.

WAHOO!!! That fixed it! Thank you VERY much moshu.
I am very happy I don’t have to re enter all that stuff. By the way, any downside to making that change?

Gasps in amaaaaaazement at moshu’s brilliance. ??

I had the same problem but in search. I changed the search.php the same as mentioned above, from the_excerpt to the_content.
I never would have figured that out on myown.. Thanks!

Edit. Doh, the post I’ve replied to just disappeared ??
