embedded medium images not replaced

  • Hi,

    I only noticed it now: When I replace an image that i have embedded in a page as medium image and the new image has another dimension the embedded link doesn’t get updated. Regardless which option for replacement I choose.

    For example:
    Old filename: filename-211×300.jpg
    New filename: filename-215×300.jpg

    but the link in the page doesn’t change from 211 to 215 and of course only a “file not found” place holder shows up.

    replaced images from images I attached to posts as work flawlessly.

    Is this expected behaviour?

  • Same here. With wordpress 4.7.2, in my case one of the downscaled images is not updated. Not an expert. This downscaled image might be requested / created by the ultimate shortcode image galery.

    As far as I can tell, this is expected behaviour. There are several previous discussion threads on this topic.
