• Hello,

    I am working on embedding Quicktime movies into my WordPress posts (version 2.0.3). Is there an easy way ?

    I have tried adding the basic embed code, however, can’t get around WordPress formatting the code into “smart-text” (or whatever it is called). I tried using the “Text-Control” plugin, however, that has not made a difference (I don’t know if it isn’t working or what I am doing wrong). My code gets all screwed up in WordPress mumbo … have just tried to post the code without any hard-returns but still no luck.

    I have tried using the extreme video plugin … and while this is super fast and nice (bravo!) I have display issues on Firefox (as that the “click here to view this video” link are offset way to the right and do not show up in the post until after I click on it — at that point, it moves back to where it should be) and Internet Explorer (the icons and links show up in the correct space, unlike firefox, but I do not have any control features for quicktime: pause, play, etc.)

    So: is there an easy way ?

    Thanks,
    Damon

  • Have you tried turning off the wysiwyg editor?
    admin -> users -> scroll to bottom left.
    Also uncheck the box for :
    “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically”
    admin -> options ->writing

    Code:
    `<object classid=”clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B” codebase=”https://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab&#8221; height=”256″ width=”320″>

    <param name=”src” value=”https://www.yourdomain/your.mov”&gt;
    <param name=”autoplay” value=”true”>
    <param name=”type” value=”video/quicktime” height=”256″ width=”320″>

    <embed src=”https://www.yourdomain/your.mov&#8221; height=”256″ width=”320″ autoplay=”true” type=”video/quicktime” pluginspage=”https://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/”&gt;

    </object>

    Just change width, heights to what you need and autoplay to false if need be.

    Hi – thanks! Had to get rid of some of the spaces/hard returns in the code, but, after I disabled the rich text editor, seems to be working fine.

    Another quick question: is the height at 256 to account for the play/pause features ? that 16 pixels for that ?

    And this other question may be a little off “wordpress” topic, but is there a way to make it not “download” the file until a user has clicked to load the video ? (to save bandwidth ?)

    Yes change the value in this line to “false”

    <param name=”autoplay” value=”true”>
