I have noticed that views on my embedded players are not counted on YouTube. I think I am getting the add revenue but it’s a problem that all my videos look like they have only been watched by 25 people.

Do you know if this is a general YouTube thing or is there something I/you need to do to have the videos counted correctly?

I tested it out when first released and view count increased as expected. It might just be that people aren’t watching the video long enough to count as a view (80-90% I think it is). On your video analytics you can check what percent stay through to 90% and see how close it matches to the graph.

Ok. It may be because YouTube is just several days behind when it comes to counting anything not on YouTube.com. Right now none of the views from my website are getting counted but I will give it a few days to see if they show up.

    Thanks!

Thought I’d update. I just remembered about people suggesting that autoplaying videos don’t count or count less often for views. They counted for me when testing but it was a dumb video with only a couple views. I think YouTube implements new checks once it gets to over 300 views. I’m not sure if this is still true.

I am pretty sure they don’t count autoplay videos at all anymore. They have started counting some of the views from my website but not all of them. I have done some research and nobody really knows how YouTube decides what to count ??

Any updates on this issue? YouTube is definitely is not counting the video plays on my blog and I do not have auto play set. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue? https://www.ipadwisdom.com

    just add

    autoplay_onclick = false

    or simply

    dont_autoplay_onclick

This will stop videos from automatically playing when clicked and will allow YouTube to count the view.

Edit: After looking at your website you are just talking about regular embeds and not a video with listings under them. Standard embeds should be counted normally. They will sometimes take a couple days to update on YouTube.

Can you share a link to the page where the plugin is used?

    Hey,
My views are definitely not getting counted. Maybe I′m at the the wrong place cause instead of wordpress I did my web through wix (I′m useless at this stuff), but I saw this post and I couldn′t help my self but to ask.

I have lost at least 1000 views that I know have been watched. I have gone down from 2,000 views to 25 since I launched the song on my web as supposed to with a direct link to youtube.

    Can anyone help, please?

    Thank you

Kent-Thanks so much for the feedback. I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know where to put the code you suggested. I just use the embed tag for videos within my posts as follows: [embed]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC0JxEbC0FQ[/embed].

I do not believe my videos are set to auto play by default though (if I visit a page from a different computer the videos do not automatically play). And, as far as I can tell, plays are not counted on the embedded posts.

Honestly, No one really knows when or why YouTube counts a view and just when people think they have something figured out… YouTube changes their mind and does it another way.

I will say that repeatedly viewing the same video — even from different computers but within the same network/wifi — will usually not count as extra views after a certain point.
