• I have a site with multiple contributors (“authors” according to WordPress). They need to be able to embed flash in their posts, but it seems like only administrators can do this. When an author tries to embed flash, it just disappears. Sure we can do the thing, but I want people to be able to embed from other sites as well.

Is there a setting I can change to allow authors to be able to embed flash from any site?

My site is: https://tuneoftheday.net

• There’s Vipers Video Quicktags and WordTube among other plugins at

Yes, but I’d like for my authors to be able to embed from anywhere. Why can’t they simply copy the embed code? Is it some security measure that prevents them from doing so?

to quote:

<embed> was never part of any standardized version of HTML, and this practice produces invalid markup.

Flash embeds and some javascript can compromise security of the blog. So it would up to you to include the tools via plugins to enable your contributors to add videos from different places into your website.

I have used the Kimili Flash Plugin to Embed the Free Rider 2 Flash game on iwebie and it works great for me..

Check out the Example

I trust my authors to use this code. I don’t want to use a plugin that allows authors to do this via something like , since the plugin may stop working someday, and I’d be stuck with hundreds of posts that contain shortcode that WordPress no longer recognizes.

Is there a plugin out there that will simply disable this security measure? I’m aware of the risks, but I want my authors, whom I trust, to be able to embed when they need it. A plugin that would simply enable them to embed would be the solution for me. But all of the video linking plugins just seem to enable shortcode instead of allowing embed html code.

Nevermind. The Role Manager plugin allows me to correct what I consider to be WP’s way of mandating what I allow on my blog. They seriously need to learn how to make things optional.

Remember that if you get hacked because of the vulnerabilities in flash code.

I agree with Saberj.

Allowing EMBED tag to author user level should be possible to set by administrator.

I have no problem, if by default it is turned off…

“Remember that if you get hacked because of the vulnerabilities in flash code. “

Is this the same with YouTube videos?

Thanks, Saurus, I certainly will.

Preach the risks, don’t take away the options.

@saberj
That’s probably true – won’t argue that. As long as people are aware of the possibilities.

@t3ch33
Flash is flash – whatever the source.

Hi!
I installed the plug in. What is the capability to enable embed videos??
