Embedding video using shortcode

    Hey all, pretty new to this and stumped!

    I want to embed a video in my post, ive tried using the ad video button, but his just puts in a link to the video rather than embedding the video…

    I was reading about shortcodes, which dont seem to work for me? is this because I am hosting my own wordpress blog, do i need to install any extra plugins to embed video?

  • There is a great and easy way to embed video without using any plugins, by opening the “Kitchen Sink” in Visual mode, and using the “Insert embedded media” button.

    You can customize size, alignment, etc.

    Thanks budda! that worked a charm for embedding youtube – Im still interested in the shortcodes, do they not automaticly work? or is that something you have to configure if WP is running on your own server?

    I haven’t had a chance to use shortcodes in posts, except for the ones indicated by plugins, but as far as I know, they are implemented in WordPress.

    This codex reference should get you started.
