Embedding WordPress 2.5.1 posts on another page in the same domain

  • I’m rebuilding our band website with WP 2.5.1. The idea is that I would like the main page (https://www.alymysto.com/) to be a static page, with a few dynamically updating info boxes (news, gig info and such). The info in these boxes is in practice entries from certain blog post categories, such as Gigs, News and such. The blog will reside on https://www.alymysto.com/blog/.

    Ideally, on the blog, the same info should be updated to the blog sidebar dynamically.

    I couldn’t find any up to date information on how to do this. I know php/MySql, but my experience in tinkering with WP is from 2.0 era. Any help or pre-baked code snippets for this?

  • The article on shooflydesign.org is certainly still valid. I have written a tutorial on this topic as well. You should be able to easily modify the sample code from Part 1 of my tutorial to do exactly as you need. There is an example of creating a latest posts list with links back into the blog, as well as how to embed the content from your posts or pages.
