I’m trying to embed a video in a custom tab. After creating a custom tab, I embed a YouTube video, which appears as expected within the edit product screen. However, when I view the tab through the website in Chrome, I only get the URL, not the video being displayed, as expected. Help!

  • Hey @harleec

I’d love to help but do you have a page I could view? Are you using a plugin to embed the video, if so which plugin?

    Cheers,

    Here’s a link to the page: https://lvpdev.lordvaperpens.com/product/the-chief-dream-catcher-oil-cartridge-battery/
I’m just pasting the link for embedding a video that I get from YouTube. It works in the Description tab, without any plugin, but it doesn’t work in the custom tab. Like I mentioned, the video appears in the edit product page.

Also, I can’t get any of the standard formatting to work, all sentences run together. If I force a <br> in the Text mode, it disappears when I switch to Visual. You can see it here: https://lvpdev.lordvaperpens.com/product/blueberry-og-cbd-shatter/ in the “2018 FARM BILL” custom tab. The “At the federal level, …” is starting of a paragraph that should be on a separate line.

That is very strange I’m able to get this working on my testing site by just pasting the link into a new custom tab. Try using the iframe version instead and let me know if that works for you.

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6brqfNN8YCs" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Having the same problem. Tried both iframe and URL and the youtube video shows in the tab on the Admin side but does not show on the live site. I see that this thread is marked resolved so i’m not sure if the iframe worked for the original poster. Thanks!

    Hey @19jake93,

In the future making a new support thread is ideal because sometimes I miss these on older posts! Could you show me a link to your website? Also, what theme are you using?

This could be happening for many reasons but long story short you probably have a theme or plugin that is disabling this in some form.

Here’s an article on how to disable embeds in WordPress, which is the opposite of what you’re trying to do but it could give you some ideas of what to look for when searching through your plugins and themes to find the culprit.

Also, you might want to clone your site to a staging site if you already have one and then just disable one plugin or theme at a time until you’re able to embed youtube videos.

If you don’t have a staging site already you can use this plugin to create one.

Thanks for the quick response. I will make sure to start a new thread in the future. I did manage to get the embed to work. I did a few tests and ultimately installed the youtube video plugin and for some reason the [embedyt] tag the plugin created worked. I am using Shuttle Pro Theme and it has proved to be a bit tricky in the past when trying to work with other plugins and the template itself seems to have a few issues so I will definitely check out the link on disabling embeds to get a better understanding. Much appreciated!
