• Hey everybody. I was trying to help a friend out with his site.
I was on the general settings and the previous web designer had /wordpress after the URL and so I removed that thinking it would clean up the homepage URL.
Now I get the “no input file selected” message and so I logged off and tried to log back in.
But it won’t even let me log back in! Says the name doesn’t exist!
The home page right now looks nothing like it did before I got that error message.
    Please please please help
    Thank you!!!

  • the /wordpress was after the url because that is the folder where wp is installed
by removing it, you just confused the installation

    thx for the links …

But I don’t have access to the server until tomorrow.
I won’t have the ftp info til then.

Do you know of a way to at least log back in?
I have a second wordpress website that I pull up the log in screen with and type in this info but it says “invalid username”.

    No.

If you can access the database, then you can change the URL to the /wordpress folder there, but I’d be very cautious about that, because you can also mess up the database itself.

Once I’m logged into the FTP, which folder do I open up? I don’t see a folder just called WordPress.
    I see folders that say wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes, etc.
Then I also have actual PHP files.
Which one do I click on?

Also, when I’m in the FTP and I click on the wp-config.php, it starts loading up DreamWeaver but nothing pops up except the welcome screen.

One other thing that’s weird is I use IE for my browser to access the FTP. It works on my other website but not this one.
    Should I start using FileZilla?

If you want to execute the fix via FTP, use Filezilla, and use a plain text editor to edit the file.

For a slightly easier fix, access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin (most hosting providers offer this in their control panel) and manually change the siteurl and home values to https://wheeleindustries.com/wordpress

I just dl FileZilla and it still won’t let me log in. I used FileZilla to access my other website, and it connects fine.

Sooooooo, if I can’t log into the FTP nor the WordPress log-in screen, what do you suggest?

Sorry that I’m a newbie with all this, but where exactly can I get to the control panel through the provider?

Contact your hosting provider and ask them what settings to use for ftp. Some hosts require you to put ftp. before your domain name and others just use the domain name.
