• Hey there,

Love your plugin! Not sure if this is the right place to report bugs, but I’ve discovered a cause of a problem that’s been plaguing me.

It seemed randomly that I would lose all (extensive) changes I’d made to the menu (it reverts back to default) on many occasions. Then I realized it was happening when I paste an emoji into the title of a submenu item and click save. The plugin reports “Settings saved” but it reverts all changes back to default menu.

If it’s not intended or it’s expected that an emoji is not supported, that’s fine, but there should be an error message instead, probably.

I was using emojis on submenu titles to get around the lack of icon option, which is just frivolous so I can do with out for now, I just wanted to let you know about the bug.

I’ve run into similar issues with certain emojis before, but I thought those were fixed already. Could you elaborate on which specific emojis trigger this problem?

Thanks for the quick reply! It happened more than once before I figured out what was causing it, so I don’t know which emoji’s exactly, but I’m pretty sure the last couple times it was ?? and/or ??

I tried adding those emojis to a custom submenu item on a test site, but I wasn’t able to reproduce the problem: the menu configuration was saved successfully, and the emojis showed up in the menu title as expected. Here’s a screenshot:

Just to be sure, can you confirm that you’re using the latest version of the plugin? And what’s your WordPress version?

Also, is there anything unusual going on with the database, like a custom character set?

Hmm. I’m fairly certain I was on the latest free version at the time, but I am now upgraded to the lifetime pro version so I’m not sure. Let me save my current config and try again to see what happens.
