    Hi,

I’m having an issue with adding Emoji’s to the Yoast Box Title & Description.

They appear to work but when I save the page/post the Emoji is stripped and the text reverts to it’s previous save state.

I can add Emoji’s to the WordPress title and within the post itself. The issue seems isolated to the WordPress Yoast Box.

A little research uncovered that it may be that the ‘wp_postmeta’ is utf8 and hasn’t upgraded to utfmb4? The site is older than the 4.2 upgrade. It’s a little beyond me how I would go about making this change though.

Is there an easy way to tell if the character set is the issue?

Or am I barking up the wrong tree and there’s another suggestion to fix this issue?

Note: I have a staging environment so happy to try things / break things ??

    Thanks in advance!

    SOLVED! 🤩

Copying and pasting the emoji into the title or description resulted in it being stripped out and WordPress not saving. Even though it says ‘Post updated’ at the top.

    What works:
Copying in the character code (not sure what they’re called… these things 🤩)for the emoji and then saving.

After it saves, WordPress automatically converted the characters into the correct Emoji.

Hope this helps someone else! : )
